This Yamaha flugelhorn in lacquer with a rose brass bell appears to be from the late seventies or early eighties as it is a 4 digit serial number and has the earlier valve design with the springs underneath the valves. Valves were not working well when I purchased the horn a year ago but a recent ultrasonic cleaning and valve-lapping have them in good order now. I played it on a recent gig and had no issues outside of re-oiling the second valve through the tuning slide once. This older valve design is more finicky than the newer one, but easily maintained as far as I can tell. It is in good shape for it's age and shows some wear evidenced in the photos. (Handling scratches near the bell crook and valve casings, and a ding in the bell. Evidence of small dings having been smoothed out in bell crook) The horn plays great and comes with the original case (in great shape)and the yamaha 12F3d mouthpiece.
