A very fine, rare French cello bow made by Pierre Simon ca. 1870 with the frog by Nicolas Simon and a later button made in the correct style, certified by Isaac Salchow in New York. Pierre Simon was one of the greatest French bow makers. Bows made by Pierre Simon are highly thought after and used by fine musicians, including great soloists.
The stick is fine pernambuco, round, strong with a nice flexibility, good balance and a superb concert sound. The length of the stick is 68.3 cm and the weight is 73 g. The frog and button are ebony and silver. The bow in a very good state of preservation, ready to play.
