Available for auction is this fine example of a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Standard with Cherry Sunburst finish.  I purchased this guitar from its original owner in 1988 in Nashville, TN.  This guitar has been played recreationally and carefully maintained since day one.
This Les Paul Standard is in excellent condition and plays like a dream.  The guitar has a few minor dings and scratches that are consistent with 36 years of use.  The electronics are 100% original and have never been touched.  The finish has mellowed over the years and looks better now than it did in the 80's.  Tuning keys, bridge, tailpiece and knobs are all original.  The Gibson “chainsaw” protector case is original and in excellent condition.  The only “non-original” parts on this instrument are the truss rod cover (original Gibson replacement part) and the jack plate (original Gibson replacement part).  Both accessories were installed by the original owner in the 1980's. The guitar weighs 9.94 lbs.
There are a lot of claims these days about Les Paul guitars with Tim Shaw pickups.  I have been told that you have to remove the pick-up covers to inspect the wiring and magnets to validate the Tim Shaw design.  I also understand there is an output test that is required for 100% validation.  Some folks believe the ink stamp on the back of the pickup is sufficient validation (see photos).  I welcome any additional insight on this topic.  What I do know is the guitar is beautiful, sounds awesome and plays like a dream.
Shipping only to USA lower 48 states only.  The Guitar will be securely packaged with TLC and shipped UPS ground with insurance. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding.
