This auction is for TWO CHANNELS, as SHOWN of: RECAPPED! PAIR OF NEAR MINT ORIGINAL QUAD EIGHT MM100 PREAMPS So clean you can eat off them, these are the very best model ever made by Q8 What does The Wal, Neal Young's Harvest, Boston's Boston albums have in common? Quad Eight. What makes them the best? This is thier top all discrete HIGH VOLTAGE CLASS A preamp model. This was thier top circuit, but these are from BEFORE they started mounting the GAIN BLOCK IN LITTLE PLASTIC BOXES, on crowded pc boards which were VERY difficult to service. Quite simply, they got paranoid about API, MELCOR, and later ADM stealing thier circuit, so they tried to hide it, but because these are the HIGHEST VOLTAGE TRANSISTOR PREAMPS in history, the HEAT BUILDUP caused long term failure on the boxed amps. on these models, and the 312 eq only, the components are nicely spread out. This unit was from a radio station, on the main mix output, running 24/7 and never needed the slightest repair. NOTHING HAS EVER NEEDED SERVICING ON THESE, the original transistors and all parts except for the electrolytic caps which are original. I did those caps, just because of the age of them, switches are cleaned, lubed, the shafts teflon treated. also the grub screws on the knobs lubed. The faders on these, were wire wrapped glass inside anodized aluminum two tone cases. You just never see faders like this on ANY other gear....these were the top of the TOP, far surpassing P and G, and can be opened to clean and lube with one simple thumbscrew. There are three gain stages in here, each ONE is enough for a stand alone mic pre, so no shortage of available gain. What I do, is toggle in the line stage, when i need more gain(post fader) and, send the output through a trim pot to the aux send amp, which can give you electronically balanced output, or you can have a split output aux send to run to a reverb unit, parallel compressor, or why these units are as you see them, ready to wire and use they are fully functional, but have no mods. ELVIS, Ronald Reagan, and pretty much every star in the world went through this 70channel! console at the MGM, as they had the Dean Martin Celebrity roasts there, as well as a galaxy of performers. Huge piece of history, and i kept the best two for myself. Selling as is, no returns and will ship to the continental US. Check my 100% positive feedback L, good luck!
