Up for sale, a 2000 Fender '62 American Vintage Jaguar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This discontinued model is finished in classic Olympic White nitro lacquer and is one of the earliest examples of this model we've ever had in the shop. Introduced in 1999, this '62 Jaguar has a red "meatball" tortoise guard seen only on the first examples, and production numbers were far smaller during the first half decade this model was offered.Tonally, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, with plenty of twang and snap in the top end, with the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The stock pickups have balanced, sweet output and great clarity for strummed passages and sparkling lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and a flip up string mute and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar when it was introduced in '62, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could conjure.Weighing in at 9lbs 2oz, it ain't the lightest Jag in the world, but given the copious chrome and hardware, these guitars are rarely seen much more than a few ounces lighter. Much more importantly, the guitar has a very solid feel and a dynamic, clear voice both acoustically and when plugged in. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in offset Fender instruments, this Jag is dialed in to perfection and strung with fresh 11-50 strings. The neck has a medium C profile that borders on the slimmer side of things, with an Indian rosewood slab fretboard, vintage style frets and a traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius. The stock slender fretwire retains its full factory height and shows virtually no wear with perfectly rounded crowns. The 24" scale makes bending and chord extensions a breeze, and with a nut that's just shy of 1 11/16" in width, it's ideal for chording and accurate lead work. It's also worth pointing out that the fretboard is a particularly nice piece of rosewood with a deep, chocolatey grain and contrasting lighter and darker stripes.  On the headstock, the Jaguar waterslide decal is immaculate and the Kluson style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.  All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome control plates show no wear. The string mute engages easily and is also well out of the way of the strings when disengaged.  The vibrato works extremely well for small surfy shimmies or deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease and setup so that there's proper break angle between the bridge and tailpiece for optimal stability and minimal string slippage. Cosmetically, the nitro lacquer Olympic White finish is vibrant and virtually un-yellowed, with only faint, targeted buckle rash on the back. There is also a faint rectangular outline on the back of the guitar from a sticker that was removed long ago.  This Jag has been extremely well kept since new!The original brown tolex hardshell case and chrome bridge cover are included.
