Vintage Epiphone Zephyr Regent Archtop Guitar circa 1953 with Hardshell Case

For sale is my Epiphone Zephyr Regent Archtop Guitar circa 1953. The label shows that it was manufactured in New York, and the serial number is 65013. It weighs about 7 pounds and measures a little over 17 inches at the lower bout.
First of all, the guitar is ready to play as is. The New Yorker pickup sounds great, and the guitar also has good acoustic volume (for an archtop). The volume and tone controls are a little wobbly but they function exactly as they should. The ornate tuners are just fine, and the guitar stays in tune well. I have heard that some players replace the New Yorker pickup with a mini humbucker, but to me the New Yorker pickup sounds just fine. I roll off a little treble for playing jazz. The guitar is about 64 years old and shows wear of course. The sides, soundboard and headstock seem to have been refinished at some time in the past. The back does not appear to have been refinished, and it looks very nice. I'm sure the white pickguard is not original, and it is somewhat crudely cut. The guitar would really benefit from a tortoise shell look pickguard. But I never cared about the cosmetics. It is a player's guitar, not a collector's piece.There are some scratches and dings, as well as some binding separation. The frets are a little low...fine for right now, but if you intend to make this your main guitar, they will need replacing in the near future. Notwithstanding these issues, the guitar is solid, stable, and ready to play. The case is brown leather, quite worn, and has a black replacement handle. But the case is fully functional.This guitar is a piece of American musical history. And whether you wear a fedora or a cowboy hat, you might want to add this to your collection.No international shipping.
