This is for a vintage C.G. Conn 4 valve euphonium. This euphonium has 4 short action valves. The serial number is 615239. According to the Conn serial number list, this euphonium was manufactured in 1956. This instrument was never sold by a retail store. It was kept in Conn's engineering department as a prototype. When Conn closed it's Elkhart plant in the early 1970's the instruments in the engineering department were sold to whoever happened to be there at the time. The registration card and the punch cards from the factory are included. It shows the model number as 24I/10 which would indicate the intended finish as lacquer. This must have been a concept horn because the 24I came to be the Connstellation. However, the Connstellation models that went on the market had standard stroke valves, not the short action valves that are on this euphonium. The 4 short action valve euphonium that preceded the 24I Connstellation was the 22I model. This euphonium that is up for sale has 4 short action valves, like the 22I, but the configuration of the fourth valve tubing is that of the 24I. The finish is raw brass. There is lacquer finish on the bell and the second and third valve tuning slides. This instrument basically has almost no play time on it. I played it to see how it responded. This is a very good playing horn. Since there is hardly any use on it, the valve compression is excellent. There are dings and small dents here and there. All of the slides move, except for one of the 2 fourth valve slides. It moved a couple of months ago when I took it out of the horn, but now is very tight. Correct Conn case in shabby condition is available by request. No mouthpiece or case is included with this auction. I have a wooden Conn case, 1960's vintage, in the Conn Director design for fixed bell front, that looks a little beat up, but still pretty solid. If  you would like to have this euphonium shipped in this case, I will include it, but will need an additional $25.00 for shipping, due to the large size. High bidder please make payment soon after the close of the auction. This will need to be shipped by May 31. If payment is not made in time to ship this by May 31, but made after this time, you have the option of a full refund, or you will need to wait until after July 14, at which time I would be able to get to the Post Office to mail this horn. High bidder to pay $95.00 for USPS Priority Mail, which includes full value insurance. Parcel Post is available, but the delivery time can take about 4 - 6 weeks. Parcel Post postage is $62.00, including insurance. The postage amount is an estimate. High bidder to pay no more than actual USPS cost. Any overpayment will be refunded. International USPS Priority Mail postage, without the case is about $69.50,depending on the country. No extra cost for packing materials, time, or handling. Guaranteed satisfaction, or a complete refund. No discounts or partial refunds will be given. If not satisfied, return the item in the same condition for a complete refund. If there are any problems, please contact me before opening a case. Please look carefully at the pictures, read the complete description, and ask any questions before bidding.
