At Luminous Guitars, each guitar is made with one pair of hands. Its shape is meticulously sculpted from high-grade pieces of lumber. Whenever possible, materials are sourced locally in Portland, Oregon. I have inspected and tested, touched and smelled every bit of this guitar. The Centerline Deluxe is the select model in this line. It is made to impress, visually and sonically. The contours are comfortable, the neck is shaped by a player's hands. This gorgeous instrument is ready to make your music.This guitar features a two-piece, chambered ash body. The top was cut from the slab before routing the chambers, and glued back in place to make a lightweight semi-hollow guitar. A curly maple binding accents the custom dyed Sapphire Sunburst. The body features a "tummy cut" contour on the back and extra-rounded corners for added comfort. A high gloss finish protects and shines like a jewel.All Centerline guitars feature a hand-carved neck joint, offering major playing improvements over traditional guitars of this style.The neck was carved by hand from select grade quartersawn Eastern Maple and a beautifully figured flame maple fingerboard. The 9.5” radius fingerboard features 22 extra-tall/medium-width frets, pearl dot inlays, and Paua Abalone at the 12th fret. Its hand carved C profile strikes a balance between modern thin and vintage fat. It feels cozy along the full length for players of all hand sizes. The thin lacquer on the back of the neck is sanded to a satin finish for superior motion.For the Deluxe series, the best woods require the most suitable electronics. With a covered humbucker in the neck position and an overwound bridge pickup, this instrument has the power to drive a high gain amp to liquid sustain and fat-bottomed open chords, with the subtlety to make quiet, articulate clean passages thanks to a “Micawber” pickup set from Onamac Windery. They’re hand wound by Kerry Learned at Onamac Windery in Washington state. Here’s what he has to say:"A stout classic PAF style humbucker for the neck constructed using era correct butyrate bobbins with specially selected 42awg plain enamel magnet wire, unpolished rough cast full size alnico 5 magnet, maple spacer, vintage alloy pole screws and slugs all lightly wax potted and housed in a beautifully chromed American made nickel/silver cover."The Tele bridge uses the early style larger diameter flush alnico 3 magnets specially selected 43awg plain enamel magnet wire, heavy duty plain steel base plate, the coil is wound in black rope to look like the early lap steel pickups that Keith [Richards] uses."Hand wound harmonics & clarity make for the sweetest tone you've heard from a humbucker while the bridge growls with the perfect amount of mid range grit.
