Very Rare SELMER Double ASCENDINGFrench Horn Edouard Vuillermoz MODELTHEVET 1950'YEARS* compensatingin F and Bb SERIAL NUMBER: 840* Edouard Vuillermoz (1869-1939)was soloist playing in the Concert Colonne, then at the Paris Operaand the Société des Concert ( called later the Paris Orchestra).He used to played with famous condusctors and composers as igor Stravinsky, Ravel, Rechard Strauss.He become Teacher in 1934 at the Paris Conservatory, replacing Mr Reine.Edouard Vuillermoz created with SELMER this double French horn model.* This instrument become the most frequently used in Francein the professional orchestras, - till the end of the Sixties.Its design is remarkable and its manufacturing quality outstanding.Today, this model is played by many famous French soloists-such as David Guerrier in France (Orchestre National de France Soloist)and too in the States - and in Japan where Lucien Thevet performed a recordable tour -as everyone looking for the specific tune for playing the French Music of this period :Ravel, Dukas.....The famous record made by Lucien Thevet was playedwith this Ascendant French Horn - Vuillermoz model,and not with the model Lucien Thevet changed afterwards..*The prior instrument was the Raoux Millereau FrenchHorncreated by the end of the XIXe century.The design of the pistons valves remains still the same.After having overtook the Raoux Millereau Company, in 1931,the Selmer Company maintains and develops the tune qualities of these FrenchHorns.This Instrument is subsequently the final touch of the FrenchHornissued from the French School.*There are some rare dents & dings, some scratches and use tracks. The compression is very good.The pistons valves are perfectly functioning.This instrument is very easy to play avec a full round tune, rather clearso specific of the French School of that period.The small bore, the rather narrow bell size -similar to the Raoux's,and also the pistons valves system give to that instrument- a great preciseness, - a unique clear full sound.
