Description
Exact Year: 1966

Made by Baldwin Burns (1966), made in London, England, serial # 15340, red/black sunburst polyester finish, sycamore body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, original blue check tolex hard shell case in great condition! This guitar has been in storage for many years. It has been barely played. We just had a tune-up where they took it apart and went through everything. The guys at the shop were gushing over it! The finish is in amazing condition along with everything else. EVERYTHING is original on this guitar. These were made in England by the Burns Company. It is red sunburst with a strat style body, six in line tuners, tremolo and three pickups. The "Split Sound" pickups are like the ones Brian May of Queen used in his famous made at home guitar. It plays fine, the pickups sound great, and it has the "Wild Dog" setting. The Jazz Split Sound was Baldwin's midline instrument; professional class but less expensive than the more dramatically styled Black Bison and Hank Marvin guitars at the top of the line. Obviously owing a lot to the Stratocaster, the JSS has three "Split Sound" Tri-sonic pickups with a rotary control giving four tone selections including the snarlingly out-of-phase "Wild Dog" and the patented "Split Sound" which combines different half-coils to accentuate bass and treble registers. The lavish "Series II" vibrato system incorporates a floating bridge cradle and fully adjustable individual saddles and must rate as one of the best systems of its kind. The medium-scale neck is slim and comfortable with a slightly less round feel than a Fender. All the instruments from the Baldwin Burns days are extremely well made, and this rates as a fine-playing guitar with tons of character and a very distinctive sound.
