-CUSTOM, ONE OF A KIND- Genuine USA made 2000 Fender "Artist Series" Stevie Ray Vaughan Stratocaster 4.63 lb. Alder 2 piece guitar with a custom made  MIM 1998 Fender Classic 60's Strat Rosewood C 7.25 radius neck.  (see data below regarding neck)Unlike other genuine Fender SRV's being sold on Ebay, the body has been professionally custom painted via a three stage painting process. (see below or process)Before posting I disassembled the entire USA made SRV Strat body to ensure it looked as excellent inside as outside and as the photos reflect, the inside and outside is in almost like new condition. See disclaimer below. The SRV Stratocaster differs primarily from a regular Fender Stratocaster as well as knockoffs from Warmoth and others because of its inverted bridge.   Fender went to the expense to custom built SRV bodies by routing the backside of the body to accommodate an inverted Left handed bridge. What that accomplishes is placing the tremolo bar on the left side of the guitar bridge enabling greater torque and accessibility which SRV desired when performing. A regular Strat's trem arm is built to the right near the controls as all Fender Tremolo bridges are. Unless you ream out the back of body, a Right handed bridge absolutely, positively will not fit. With respect to the neck, in 2004 I had the opportunity to visit the Ensenada Fender plant and during that trip I had waiting for me a 60's Rosewood C neck 7.25 radius which I purchased for about $400. My neighbors uncle worked there and I had told him I did not like the chunky SRV neck so he offered to make a neck specifically to my specs, a light C cut, 7.25 radius, medium nickle frets laid in light colored rosewood.  (The 60's Classic MIM was designed by Fender Custom shop Builder Dennis Galuszka, so unlike other MIM guitars, the classic was built to USA Custom Shop standards.)  Included in this auction are:  1.  Chrome Tremolo arm;2.  Gotch vintage nickle tuners;3.  Original Neck plate, except this plate, like the bridge has been chrome plated;4. Three (3) coats of conductive grounding paint applied to pick-up and control cavities; (see photos reflecting black conductive grounding paint inside the body cavities)5. Original nickle Strap screws; 6. Mint Pearl pickguard: (I have several others, pearl white, pearl green, tortoise shell, so if you don't like mint pearl, I will exchange)7.  And finally I am including a set of custom made pickups by Charlie Davis who worked for Fender from the late fifties to the late eighties. He still uses the original wire winder that he got at Fender. I did not like the tone of the after-market pickups that were installed on this Strat so I had Charlie make a set to my demanding specs, only retaining the old bobbins.(See YouTube Joey & His Showmen for the tone),Charlie first removed the old wire from the bobbins, then re-wound each pickup with 42 gauge Formvar wire; hand bevel Alnico 5's and customized the pole staggering which resembled a lefty pickup,, reverse wound the middle pickup for noise cancelling, used period correct cloth wire, then dipped them in potted wax. After a day of trial and error (removing-rewinding the pickups) we ended up with a blend of Fender's Fat 50's, 54 Fender Custom Shops, my original 59 Strat and my mentor Dick Dale's 59 Strat:  (figures represented below are in DC resistance and tested in CA at 90% temp)
Bridge-6.21; Middle 6.22 Neck 6.25.  Because I play surf music, the original sunburst color did not work for me, so shortly after I received it in 2000 I took it to a friends paint shop and he used a three (3) stage paint job to get to the color I wanted.1st Stage 4 coats of 1956 Edsel Light Aqau,
2nd Stage 5 coats of White Diamond Pearl, the 5th coat extra on the front, (diminishes the green);
3rd Stage 5 coats of clear, then sand colored and polished to a glossy finish.Depending on the light, (see photos-taken in direct sunlight, in the shade, and in fluorescent lit room) the Strat can look platinum or frost turquoise. The reason for that is based on the 2nd stage coats of Pearl. (About fifteen years ago, say 2003, Fender had a similar color named Surf Pearl which they offered for only one year. I wanted a color that looked like the ocean in the Caribbean and I always liked the color of  the 56 Edsel my folks owned when I was a kid) The paint job cost $250.00;  $150.00 for paint, $100.00 for labor.Because I am very, very careful with my equipment, my 61 Showman and 61 Reverb, both covered in white Tolex, still looks almost showroom new. My 60 Strat almost like new, so with respect to this SRV Fender Strat  although to my eyes I see its appearance as being almost like new and any blems, however, you may find a very tiny, possibly barely detectable mark in the finish. I only make this comment because anyone can find a minuscule blem, even in a brand new item. That said, there are absolutely, positively no blemishes like dings or chips. In a nutshell, this 17 year old SRV Fender Strat looks almost like in brand new cosmetic condition for its age. I doubt the buyer will be able to determine whether this guitar was ever played. IF YOU THINK I OVERPRICED MY SRV, LET ME KNOW. I just might consider a reasonable offer, even a swap for a 61-63 Fender Bassman head. DISCLAIMERS: 1.  THERE IS A PAINT RUN WHERE THE NECK PLATE ATTACHES TO THE BODY BUT  THE RUN IS TOTALLY UNDETECTABLE WHEN THE NECK IS INSTALLED. SEE PHOTO WITHOUT NECK PLATE THAT SHOWS RUN, THEN THE PHOTO WITH NECK PLATE INSTALLED, TOTALLY CONCEALING THE PAINT RUN. 2.  There is a tiny ding, about the size of a pin head, too small to appear on the photos, on the outer rim of the neck. 3. To the best of my recollection, the SRV Strat  was purchased used in early 2000 for my 55th birthday, so it is likely a couple years older. According to the 2017 Vintage Guitar Price Guide, (The Kelly Blue Book for used guitar prices) although it only provides pricing data for full guitars sold in excellent condition, not bodies or necks individually, whether this body was manufactured in 1993, the first year of production of this model, or 2000, the absolute latest date this guitar could have been manufactured, or 2013, the selling prices are identical: $1125.00-$1425.00. I can't make out the date stamped inside the neck pocket, but maybe you will be able to.
