This is a (serial number 708766) Holton H-179 "Farkas" Double French Horn. This instrument was developed and designed with the help of Philip Farkas. It is a solid nickel silver Kruspe wrap symphonic double horn. It is in very good condition, and plays very well. The valves move well with excellent compression and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a few small pings and some scratching in the lacquer throughout the horn. The engraving on the leadpipe reads "Holton H179". The minor imperfections are visible in the pictures, and none of them affect the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop, and repaired to full playability. This instrument comes with a somewhat worn hardshell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition.How the horn plays: Big, warm and dark sound. The tone is smooth and clear. The horn has a good dynamic range, and the low and high registers speak well. The F and Bb timbres match well.
