These are the GrandMother of all 12 strings, from the Don of Italian guitar builders - Eko. Made in their Recanti factory in Italy from the late 60's onwards. This is a fairly early model with the more rugged build and better quality tone woods, hence more desirable, rarer, tastier, more valuable, hence loveable and therefore more pricey!This Vintage Sunburst finish is quite rare, only made for around one year I believe, seldom seen and very cool.I also believe this piece can be dated to late 60's with the sci-fi looking black and white 'bubble' headstock inlay on a black background - this monica was used from 1967 to the early 70's when the colours reversed and in subsequent years the design was gradually cheapened.Recently regaining a cult status, and for many a good reason. These have cool retro looks and sound, also well renowned for being virtually indestructible by conventional means. Much much better than the recent re-issues too. This one has been professionally overhauled and lightly restored;- Pro set up

- Great action (approx 2mm at 12th - low), smooth to play
- Fishman pickup installed
- Road-worn case included in sale
- Epic sounding machine smooth and mellow
- New D'Addario strings and fully refurbished Condition is very good at around 50 years old, with the exception of those very few signs of honest wear and use typically seen in a guitar of age. There is some slight 'buckle rash' on the back and a couple of dings, plus the usual customary laquer crack shown in the photo on the back. No cracks in the wood. There are some restorations to the finish, mainly around the binding and done to a high standard. This time consuming work has been done to improve the cosmetics and now the finish will last another five decades!One more thing worthy of mention is the retro fitted Fishman Rare Earth Humbucking pickup, these are excellent units and lend well to the sound of this old beauty so you have a nice combination of vintage and modern going on to produce a fantastic, professional sounding guitar...So you have great sound. Plus the overall appearance and condition is about as good as it gets for one of these vintages. She's absolutely brimful with character and has a well cultivated vibe!
