Leedy Indianapolis Floating Head Professional model with the Speedway Strainer . White Marine Pearl 5" x 14" Solid shell (walnut) white marine pearl finish— circa 1926 - 1928. It is a solid shell, with 8 Leedy 4 hole lugs. These were the first self aligning lugs in history. An earlier 2 hole model had limited swivel of the threaded tube (nut). The plating is polished brass with a tinted lacquer put on it. The finish was called Nobby Gold. Nobby Gold like Ludwig’s Deluxe finish and Slingerland‘s Artgold was similar to the tinted lacquer put on saxophones, trumpets, etc. It was used also on Black Beauties by Ludwig and Black Elites by Leedy.
