This 2009 R8, 1958 Les Paul Reissue from the Gibson Custom Shop is in nearly flawless condition. Included is the Certificate of Authenticity, hang tags, case candy, and OHSC. As you can notice it has a particularly nice plain top, gloss finish, and is in that classic cherry burst color. When you hold this instrument for the first time you'll notice it's exceptional light weight at 8.4 lbs (solid mahogany, not chambered), and it's great balance, something that you'd expect from a hand crafted Custom Shop guitar. This is not only a beauty to look at but it is a players guitar first and foremost. The neck shape is the classic LPR-8 "C" shape. And the serial number is printed on the back the same as it was in the fifties an 8 9***. Some of the reissues have a serial number without the 8 a space and then four digits, but this one has all that extra appeal. If you're in the market for a custom shop R8 gloss cherry plain-top this is one you'll not want to pass on. I've played about 20 of these working in the industry and this one has an especially great acoustic and electric tone even for this model. The pick-ups are custom burst-bucker's. They sound better then any other burst-buckers I've played. I think this is due not only to the fact that it has special capacitors, but because the custom shop has some secret winding formula that they save for these guitars. What I'm trying to say is that they are noticeably clearer and fatter and more musical than any others I've played; even at all the different positions of the toggle switch and volume/tone knobs.  Some special notes. I know how particular guitarists and collectors are about these instruments and I'll explain everything you may have an issue about if you are a stickler about every detail. As you can notice if you look hard, the top of the head-stock has a small indent where the paint has broken a bit but still only shows the black paint. Under the low E tuner where the head stock tapers there is a bit of top coat lacquer imperfection. Also a small bit on the neck as show in the photos. The Kluson tuners have been fitted, custom from the factory with an upgraded style of Kluson tuner. The tuning keys are the same keystone shape, and the imprinting is the same on the back, and the hardware fittings are the same on the top of the head-stock with the small metal ring fittings on the top. The difference is that the tuning post is a bit longer so you can wrap the string extra turns, a players upgrade that is a must if you like to wrap the string more than one time around the post. If you're a buff on these instruments you'll know that the originals had a very short tuning post. The plastic Jack plate has been been player enhanced as well, it has been outfitted with a modern metal fitting to secure the input jack. The original bake-lite like creamy colored plastic one is included though! The caps in the guitar, they're older paper in oil guitar caps that measured out appropriately for a Les Paul. I thought they sounded great. Sonically, I'd say they're a little more warm than the originals, original capacitors not included!  You can buy new paper in oil caps, but they're $$$ and then you need to pay to have them installed unless you're handy with a soldering iron.  The black strap in some photos is not included that's my personal one.  The original end pin is also in the case, there is a Jim Dunlop strap lock pin on the end, but the original is in the case.  I wish I didn't have to part with this amazing instrument but it is too pristine to take out for me, so I will pass it along to a hopefully new caring owner.
This instrument will be securely packed and shipped fully insured as would be expected. Don't regret passing on this special one ! ! ! !Contact me for better photos and details.
