Hey there. A great 72 vibrolux, silver, that i loved so much i decided to go nuts on. Although my amp guy did all the work, I stayed up nights thinking of cool things to do to it! (Please note that the amp is speakerless at the moment. Sorry. But my thought was that anyone interested in this amp is probably like me and is going to want to choose their own anyway. Thats the fun part). Anyway, I get pretty obsessed with projects like this, wether its an amp or guitar project. But it always starts with something that on its own is awesome. I would never spend the time and money on anything else. You cant make a crappy amp a good amp just by getting the most awesome dove tailed pine cab made for it like this one. With amber laquer, nice grain, lether handle, etc. And a solid birch baffle made extra thick to be able to support any speakers, like the evm 10ms i had in there. Sorry, I know. Breathe. (Besides it would have cost 3000 dollars to ship). And a solid pine cab does improve the sound. The same way good materials and a quality build make a speaker cab sound better. Also the cab was custom built a little taller so that the huge speaker baskets on the evm's and some other speakers will fit in without hitting the transformer or rattling the tubes. So this amp will lake any size and weight 10's. I also had a switch put in there to make it either a 4 or 8 ohm out cause i love trying different speakers and I like having options. I had a speaker on/off switch put in too. For this amp i finally decided on a high and low power speaker combo. One that stays clean and one that breaks up easier. I put the lower watt speaker on the switch so that if i really needed the amp to stay clean when cranked up i could just take it out of the loop. And to be able to keep it at 2 spekaers even if added an extension cab. i guess its more efficient that way. I really know nothing technically, These were just cool ideas I thought of trying and my tech was happy to help. I also put in a slightly higher power output transfomer, mercury Magnetics i believe, for a touch more power and headroom. A Superverb? I prefer a nice Stevie, tight glassy sound. Ronnie Earl, etc. But I can reatain thestock vibrolux sound i love depending on the speakers. (Albert Collins for me) (And a tube rectifier loosens it back up a bit too) Really just a cool, professional gigging amp. Spent over 400 for a major tuneup inside when i first got it just to get everything perfect. I also obsessed over the tubes. 6 years ago i could have taught a class at MIT on tubes. But i remember nothing now. All i know is that i chose them for a reason. RCA Blackplates that were over 200 just for the pair. Found some Wulitzer organ tubes, A Mullard. Threw in a solid state rectifier tube to keep it real piano string tight, but you can put regular one in. woops, I ran out of space so i had to shorten this whole thinga bit. And i wanna get it listed before midnight. So check out the pics. Its a great amp. Spent waaay more on it than I'm charging. Divorce worthy more money. Aaaah! But i really need to sell. Lets just say some health issues came up... But I'm good. Life is good. I'll try to answer any questions. All i can say is i know whats it's like to to obsessed with music stuff. Obsessed with sound. With wanting quality stuff. I put this together with that mindset. i want someone to enjoy it. Cheers! I'll ship it safe. Peace, adam :) (actually i remember now that the speaker combo i ended up liking the best was one evm 10m along with a weber 150. Sick). **Yep, need to sell. Please pass the word to anyone who might possibly be interested even if it might not be for you. It would be most appreciated. Its a real cool amp for cheap. Thanks!**
