Take a look at this wonderful violin. Sadly, we are putting our daughter's violin up for sale. It is a high end intermediate instrument that was purchased to take her through high school competition. We cared enough to purchase a quality instrument but with us selling our home, and her marriage and living in an apartment, it needs to find a caring and loving new owner. Our High School Orchestra Director, who won Nine 4A Iowa High School Music Association Large Group Orchestra Festivals guided us on the purchase of this instrument. Our daughter needed to go from her Suzuki 3/4 instrument to a full size violin and this was what was what he recommended as an excellent instrument. He secured the instrument for us but he is now deceased and cannot help guide it's resale. We as parents have assembled this information as follows. There are two pieces of information that accurately represent the manufacture, date, and seller. One picture shows the label looking through the "F" hole and identifies it as created and built by Manufacture Franz Sandner in Germany in 1991. Sandner Violins are on E-bay from $2,500 to $5,000. The other label shown in the picture is the label of the seller, Knilling Music, a division of Saint Louis Music. From our local Luthier whom inspected the instrument, we learned that Saint Louis Music, purchased excellent quality new instruments from top end manufactures, placed them in their branded cases, added quality bows & accessories, and sold them in packages. The two labels clearly show model 48K, Serial 066528, and date of manufacture of 1991. We have no history of the instrument from the time of manufacture to our purchase. We purchased the set privately (through the H.S. Director) for $1600 in 1994. It has been in our smoke free, pet free, air conditioned home in storage since 1998. From the Luthier we learned the violin is in excellent condition. In the first picture, I turned it to the light, to show the only nick, that being on the front of the violin, and we call your attention to find that picture and see what is described. The pegs are tight, and the instrument plays loud and clear. There is both a wood and fiberglass bow that were supplied with the package and we were told the wood bow has good value, the fiberglass bow, not as much. The Luthier tuned and played the instrument, and suggested the wood bow should probably have new hair. The inside of the case is probably A-, the structure, zipper, and lock A+, but the outside fabric cover has corner fraying and one picture clearly shows the worst corner and the bottom of the case edges are frayed. The case is in excellent condition to protect the instrument, bows, and accessories, but please use the magnifying glass to examine the other three top corners. The shoulder rest is included as are the key to the case lock, arm protector, several new strings, rosin and polish. From another source we found there is a blue book of musical instruments, and by paying the fee, we purchased the "Orion Blue Book" pricing for this exact Violin which is shown in the last picture. This report was purchased and printed on June 7th, 2017. After asking several sources for help with pricing, we believe this guide shows the most accurate pricing for the violin, (minus the two bows, accessories, and case). Using the E-bay magnifying glass, you can see the "Initial Retail Pricing" for the set was $1,895.00 + tax. We paid privately exactly $1600 for the set when we purchased it for our daughter. From the Blue Book page shown, the "Current Used Market value" range is $870.71 to $1,064.21. Condition of any musical instrument has a great reflection on the value, and we believe the violin is in A- to B+ or excellent condition. We will be happy to take it back to the local Luthier for you to pay for his appraisal. We have given you our best information on this violin, but are not experts, only relaying what we have been told. We have a number of additional photos available and will E-mail them to you at your request. Our E-bay Feed Back Score of 100%, will let you bid in confidence, knowing we are honest, and assure we photographed and described this violin accurately. To protect this 100% feed back score, we request you ask questions and do your research on-line before you bid. We will only accept returns if the violin is found to be Not as represented. There are reviews on-line to help you with your decision. Researching the Franz Sandner name will lead you to a manufacture that has been in business since 1922 and produces violins retailing in excess of $5,000.00. We will only ship this violin to the lower 48 states, and reserve the right to cancel any auction to a buyer with low feedback scores. Thank you for looking, and again, we will answer any questions to the best of our ability.
