Details: This Steinway B has a sweetness and darkness that very few if any have. "Maestro" Bruno Hand picked this piano from many B's as his personal piano.  Darkness is a mellow tone within a Steinway that when broken in correctly will give you a richness that you might never find in any pianos. I have personally been to the Steinway factory Selection Center many times over the past 41 years. Only twice in 41 years have I ever heard a Steinway B with this richness. First : to cultivate the true darkness and sweetness of a Steinway Darker tone you embark on a 12 months process of breaking in your Steinway. You would have to order a New Steinway from the factory with absolute instructions to not apply any Hardening solution on the hammers. Then you would Set the strings, Align the hammers, Level the strings and then plan the piano for about 200 to 300 hours. Then and only then would you start on enhancing the tone to bring out the richness of the Darkness that is hidden within the piano.  This type of tone is an acquired taste. But to those that love this tone, no other Steinway B can compete. Very few if anyone gets to experience this type of sound. Right now we have a 1996, 2001, 1985, 1987 and this piano that exhibits this wonderful tone. UPDATE : A Young Couple just purchased the 1996. She came alive when she played the Dark 1996. This Steinway Model B is in the process of being serviced to our unadvertised Level 5 Service. We call it the "Traveling Virtuoso"   This package will give you a complete Dynamic Range.
