Description Brand: Shaftesbury Country/Region of Manufacture: Italy Type: Acoustic
Shaftesbury ResonatorThis is a very rare model of acoustic guitar made by Shaftesbury who made some very good qualityguitars and basses which were mainly copies of well known models. It was almost certainly made inItaly and probably in the late sixties or earlier seventies. It is actually a copy of an electric resonator guitar made original in the very early fifties bya company called Dell Vecchio and this model is the Dinamico. Please see the last two pictureswhich show the Shaftesbury and an original Dell Vecchio (which I own too) - next to each other. The Shaftesbury has a twenty fret rosewood fingerboard and three on a side headstock showing the"Shaftesbury'' logo. There are six smaller sound holes and two larger ones and the bridge is right in thecentre of the resonator. The tailpiece is a trapeze model. It is a lovely guitar in every way - very hard to find - this is the first I have seen - and it comes in a hardcase!
