1956 Rickenbacker Combo 400
Estimated price for orientation: 3 999 $
Category: Electric Guitars
Class:
Description Brand: Rickenbacker Exact Year: 1956 Model: Combo 400 String Configuration: 6 Dexterity: RH Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Body Type: Solid
The three last photos show this instrument before restoration. Charming, but is there such a thing as too much patina? This rare '56 C400 was comprehensively restored by Paul Wilczynski, top Rickenbacker specialist. It features original wiring harness and pickup, and Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Body was disassembled, stripped, sanded, and carefully refinished in Cloverfield Green nitrocellulose lacquer with many coats of clear nitrocellulose before sanding, buffing, and reassembling. The original beat-up pick guard was reproduced in aluminum sheet and anodized gold. The neck was refretted with original spec frets. A Kaufmann Vib-Ro-La was fitted, but NOTE--the Kaufmann is for vintage looks only--it's been pinned and frozen so it doesn't affect tuning stability. A separate non-slip anti-scratch plate was fixed to the back. TRC is gold-anodized aluminum to match the pick guard.Undoubtedly the nicest C400 in existence outside the RIC factory museum. It was restored in 2010 and has only been displayed since then. There is not a single mark on it--it's probably much nicer than these were when new.I will not ship outside the USA due to CITES regulations on rosewood.
