This is a special A992 alto that was purchased in April of 2012 from woodwind brass wind. I tried 4 other A992 alto saxophones before purchasing this sax and discovered that not all A992 saxes are equal. This one was heavier (built like a tank), more freely blowing with just the right bit of resistance, played perfectly in tune, and was perfectly finished. Other A992's I'd received were noticeably lighter, didn't have the response, and just didn't seem to be of the same quality. This stood out from the examples. It has a sweet alto tone and a lively yet refined response.Yanagisawa altos from this period are known to have problems with the lacquer slowly wearing off, and this one is no exception. There is lacquer wear throughout the horn. In my opinion, it gives the a horn a distinguished. accomplished appearance. The lacquer wear hasn't changed the sound. You can see the visual effect this has on the sax in the pictures. The sax comes with it's original case, a vandoren v16 jazz mouthpiece in an A7 size, and the original yanagisawa mouthpiece and case.I am selling this because I have an alto and tenor and decided to focus on tenor. It's hard to play both now that I have two kids running around. If I were to keep play alto, this would by my horn. There's no horn that will play or feel better in my opinion. It's really hard to part with this horn and I hope it goes to some one who will appreciate a fine alto - the finest Yanagisawa has to offer from the A992 series.
