Description Brand: Gibson Type: Mastertone Model: RB-3 Body Style: Closed Back Number of Strings: 5 Skill Level: Advanced Dexterity: Right Handed Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Items Included: Case Era: 1991 Banjo Type: 5-String Banjo
For Sale: 1991 Gibson RB-3 Mastertone banjo, S/N 3-9108-106 in excellent condition. This banjo is from the coveted 1988 - 1993 “Greg Rich Era” of much-improved Gibson banjos. Since 2010 Gibson has stopped its long history of making banjos altogether. When I bought this banjo from noted bluegrass banjo player Larry Perkins in 2007 it appeared completely unused. It is still in beautiful shape, with only minor wear to the first five frets, some tarnish on the armrest and play wear on the head. It plays and sounds great and includes all original parts as it came to me including the original Gibson/Kulesh tone ring and the un-filled-in warranty card. It has spikes at 7th, 8th and 9th frets. It features the less-often seen Flying Eagle fretboard pattern with the standard RB-3 headstock inlay. It includes a hard-shell case, also in excellent condition.Shipping by USPS Ground insured for full sales value. I am listing this as “No Returns” only because I don’t like the idea of shipping it more than once. I’m selling it because I have a similar, but much-used banjo and am downsizing because of my age. Please don’t hesitate to ask for details or specific pictures. Thanks!
