This antique German violin was made around 1890 in the style of Stainer. The front is made from very close to wide grained spruce, the one piece back and ribs are hand-carved from figured maple. The instrument has some scratches and dings synonymous with many instruments of its age, but It has suffered no significant damage or cracks and is overall a very attractive violin with a full clear tone. The varnish was applied when new to look heavily aged.
