I bought this guitar in New York City in 1983 and have owned it ever since. Serial number is 72959038. According to The Guitar Dater Project (guitardaterproject.org) it was made on October 22, 1979 at the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. All hardware is original Gibson including the machine heads, chrome "Super Humbucker" pickups and coil tap switch, which places either pickup into a single-point non-humbucking mode. Condition: The guitar has the light, normal wear that you would expect from a vintage instrument. Having owned it for 34 years I can personally vouch that it has been gently used and well treated. It has a few scratches and minor dings on the back (see pictures). The neck is nice and straight. Chrome hardware is in very good shape. There is slight oxidation on some of the screws that hold the finger rest and pickup frames. There is a repaired crack in the lower pickup frame. Frets are in very good shape and the guitar plays beautifully. It comes with a period, non-Gibson hard case with plush lining (no key). The case is worn but fully functional and comes with a funky Morley sticker (see pictures).
