Inside the viola there's an old label reading 'Giuseppe Rossi Liutaio, via Monte Brianzo No. 15, Roma. Fecit anno 1912' (see images). My great uncle bought it as a genuine piece by Giuseppe Rossi, also the refurbisher thought it was a genuine piece. Giuseppe Rossi was known for the marmite colour that this viola shows.
