For Sale is this gorgeous 2008 American Vintage '57 Reissue Stratocaster, in (in my opinion) the coolest 50's custom colour - Surf Green.  This is a fantastic guitar, in very good condition.  The nitro finish is very thin, I've owned 7 or 8 AVRI Stratocasters and this one has the thinnest finish I've come across.  The colour is starting to age and the lacquer finish is beginning to check in places.  Consequently, even though I've tried to baby this guitar there are a few tiny dinks in the lacquer - I'm not sure anyone would manage to keep this one pristine.  I've tried to capture any blemishes in the pics, they're quite hard to see as they don't go all the way through the finish, they really are rather small. The neck is a glorious V shape, on the slim side for an AVRI 57, measuring 0.820 at the 1st fret and 0.850 at the 12th.  The frets have had a recent light dressing, as part of a professional set up, and show no real signs of wear - loads of life in them yet.  The neck is finished in a beautiful light amber and, again, is begin to show finish checking in places.  As mentioned, the guitar has been professionally set up and plays fantastically, there's plenty of room for the action to go up or down depending on your taste without choking out or any other issues.
The pickups have been upgraded, there's nothing wrong with Fenders 57/62 pickup set - they're very good.  However, I had them replaced with a hand-wound set of 50's style pickups made by Martin of the The Little Guitar Shop in Birmingham.  Here's a link to a video of the man himself explaining and demo-ing.
http://thelittleguitarshop.com/hand-wound-pickups.htmlThey are scatterwound the old fashioned way and the difference between them and the original pickups is substantial.  These hand-wounds have a far less 'compressed' sound and are very open, chimy and clear across all frequencies - they really are the best pure 50's style pickups I've come across and would cost you £175 if you wanted to buy a set.  Other than that the guitar is 100% original, none of the pots or switches were changed. The guitar comes with the Fender G & G case shown.  The guitar was sold to me with a tweed case, which wasn't bad but upon closer inspection wasn't a G & G case or Fender badged, it was much squarer edged and not nearly as elegant. So, I've put the guitar into this case, which is just as cool in it's own way and, to be honest, is harder wearing.Any questions please ask.  If you are an overseas bidder please ask for an exact shipping cost based on your location.
