Genuine first issue 1987 Strat Plus in Very Good to Excellent condition for age. The Strat Plus was created shortly after Fender was recovered from the declining CBS company in 1985, along with the standard models in order to regain market share. The Strat Plus has been described as a virtual custom shop type guitar due to the specs.Strat plus came with the "swimming pool" routing in the body for the electrics, gold lace sensors a la Clapton, a TBX control on the rear tone knob, a Wilkinson roller nut and in this case the very early Sperzel tuners, which were replaced I think about 1988. Also the serial number is dated E4XXXXX and the neck dated 9/17/87. You might think this is a 1984 but the reality is that Fender continued to use up old CBS parts on these models. This serial number can only be found on the very earliest of models and also further validates it's authenticity.Everything works great and she sounds amazing, the neck is thicker than the modern c shape but not as fat as the old 60s baseball bat style. Overall in great overall playing condition. As can be seen in the photos this guitar reveals itself to be a very good example of a first edition Strat Plus identified by the Sperzel tuners, the very early style of roller nut AND - Fiesta red was only an option in the 1987 Strat Plus guitars.AND - if this didn't make this beautiful instrument already rare and very collectible - it has a very rare body style that was only out on a few Strat plus guitars and only in the 1987 possibly some in 1988 - making this wee beast VERY COLLECTIBLE.Please note the hard case is from a 1989 or so Strat Plus but is period correct for what the 1987 had, or very similar. The original apparently got distorted sitting on a heater at a gig. Thanks To Xhefri who is a leading expert on these guitars - please see these links to read up and get further information on these amazing guitars. Read up here on the "mysterious Bob bodies on 1987 Strat Plus and on the colours.Have a look at xhefriguitars . com  page2  htmlThere is a small crack about 1.5 cm long on the upper side neck pocket in the paint which I understand will have an effect on value however this remains a very rare and very nice example of the first issue Strat Plus. Freight cost will depend on where you are in the world but an estimate to US is $250 - $300 USD or $120 USD to Australia. This can be sorted before purchase if desired. Ebay makes me choose flat rate shipping.I am selling this only because I am now after a rather expensive trumpet and hoping this old vintage girl will help me reach that target. I don't know what this guitar is really worth, I'll let the buyers decide!Item is at the almost bottom of the world in New Zealand. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will do my best to answer them!
