Description
Martins from this era are FEW and FAR between, especially in playable shape.Priced well below retail. Find another one for this price. Or another one, period. This is a rare style and from the1850s and is NOT common.1850s size 2 Martin pre Civil War Parlor Guitar with Coffin Case. The style is a 2-27 or, a 2-30. A 2-30 was a model with these exact specs and an ivory bridge. A 2-27 is this exact model without an ivory bridge. Since this is not the original bridge it cannot be ID for certain that it is a 2-30, but it cannot be ruled out that it is not a 2-30.Completely playable. Straight neck, does NOT need a neck resetBeing sold AS IS! There are different aspects to the guitar that I have not pointed out BUT ARE NOT TERRIBLE. There have been repairs and it looks repaired, but nothing interferes with the playability. It looks old. It is old. This guitar has and is a lot of history. It's a very cool and amazing piece for something over 150 years old.No repairs are needed at this time. A very playable antique.Replaced ivory bridge (not while I have owned it). Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. It is strung with Classic S Thomastik strings which are great for old parlor guitars and gives it a steel string feel and tone. The internal brand reads C.F. MARTIN NEW YORK, on the neck heel, behind the headstock, and the back brace, which dates the guitar BEFORE 1867.I have sold MANY amazing guitars on eBay, over the years. Many. No unhappy purchases. This is from my personal collection. Circumstances beyond my control are dictating that I "thin the herd" a bit. I would rather keep it.Returns will only be accepted if there is a major discrepancy in the description. It is TOO fragile to ship back and forth because someone had buyer's remorse.I will not ship this without insurance, so that must be factored into the final sale.Sorry, no shipping out of the country. Not my rules.I will contemplate offers, but try not to be too insulting, or I will just ignore you. I'm not in the mood.
