Vox AC30 Stack 30-watt Tube Head with 2x12" Cabinet
This versatile, vintage, Vox AC30 tube amplifier stack is a classic gem. No, it doesn’t look like it’s come out of the amp store, but is packs a punch and produces that classic British Vox sound. As far experts can tell, it dates back to 1964, so it’s nearly as old as me! I have had it and used it in rehearsals and gigs since 1978. The handles have gone and the plastic logos, too, but these can be easily replaced.A recent audio test by an expert was described as ‘ gorgeous’, and a ‘fab amp - rich, sonorous & loud, the nicest non-EF86 model I’ve heard - controls functioning well for age & will improve with regular use.’It certainly produces a great classic British Blues sound, especially with my Telecaster, and features a vib/trem pedal. Main features• 2 x 12" speaker cabinet• 2 x JMI Vox ‘Blue’ speakers• Notional 16 Ohm load• A 1964 TB30/6 copper panel head & black - rear plate s/n 3033• TB30/6 Head. Original components• Original components- • note chassis no. 04082• original Mullard EL84 valves plus Zarix GZ34, ECC82 & ECC83’s –• original Woden choke & transformers in good condition – • amp is producing a very healthy & balanced sine wave with 24 vac at the speaker … this equates to 44 Watts RMS! – • vib/trem pedal2x JMI 8 ohm ‘Vox Blues’ correctly wired in series for notional 16 ohm load - resting cab load measured at a respectable/typical 13 ohms – AC30’s rarely push more than 38 Watts so this well specified, scruffy but very original is quite a gem.
