This Pre-War 5-string was refurbished from all original parts. The banjo head and the tuning pegs are the only new items added. The banjo head is designed to replicate a skin head, which was traditional on this instrument during this time period. A new hard shell case is included in this price. The mahogany neck is straight and attached securely to the banjo pot. Many hours were spent restoring this instrument and it is a beautiful example of an antique hand made banjo. The open-back is very unusual to have all 50 brackets with all original hardware including hooks and nuts and the banjo also has a solid brass hoop. There is no manufacturer, as instruments made with this vintage were individually crafted during that period, making this truly a one-of-a-kind banjo. The banjo has a wonderful open-backed mellow and clear sound and is perfect for 3-finger or clawhammer style players.This is one of my finest works and will make a great addition to any collection.
