It is a pre-Gibson period production model before selling Steinberger Sound Corporation to Gibson in 1987. It is a neck made by molding ultra hardness reinforced fiber, keeping excellent strength, although it does not have a built-in truss rod. The body material uses maple material, and the neck joint adopts bolt on. Traditional early rising sound is attractive. Two pickups of EMG - HZB are installed, and pickups that are unique to passive pickups are easy to pick up and EMG clear low - noise sounds are also obtained. It is a model that can experience the Steinberger sound which is another bit different from the one-piece molded XL-2.
