Up for sale is a marvelous flute by famed flute maker Jack Thomas. It is made from white pine and is in the key of "E". It has detailed full-length wildlife scene burnings that feature mountain animals and habitat on one side and marshland animals and habitat on the reverse side. Except for the native hunter, the scenes are composed of modified patterns by famous leather artist, Al Stohlman. The ends of the flute are decorated with finely burned ring designs. Burning of a compass rose adorns both sides of the block. The flute is sealed inside and out with multiple coats of sealer and polyurethane. Maximum finger spacing is 1 1/4". The flute is carefully tuned and has normal volume, good transition and slight back-pressure for longer playing on a single breath. Plays well with moderate breath intensity. Plays both pentatonic and diatonic scales on pitch. Comes with original protective bag and Jack's certificate of authenticity. Jack allowed me to purchase this flute shortly before his death. It was to be auctioned as part of his private collection after his death as noted on the certificate. A very fine collector flute. Stand is not included.
