If you're looking for a incredibly clean, vintage Marshall 100w head (with a killer tone), you've found it here. Check out the original, pristine faceplate (which is 43 years old but still looks brand new)--you can see that this amp has been well taken care of.Usually, the ones that come up for sale have been banged around: the Marshall logo is cracked or missing entirely, the tolex is ripped, and the faceplate looks like it's been scratched by a wolverine. Makes you wonder how solid the electronics are, and how long before it'll crap out on you.No worries here. I bought this amp since 1986 (one of my better decisions from high school...), and I've taken loving care of it. It's never been loaned out to some sketchy friend-of-a-friend, who tossed it in the back of his trunk, bouncing around next to the spare tire and leaky antifreeze jug. Nope--this amp has basically been hiding in my bedroom closet for years. Like those rare "attic finds" that pop up on Antiques Roadshow, where the appraiser gushes about how rare & exceptional the piece is, and how its condition is so pristine, given its age. And yet this amp can still rock out. These early JMP Marshalls set the tone for hard rock, and these classic, rare amps are getting harder & harder to find, especially in such good condition. The Super Bass is essentially a Super Lead, with only a few different capacitors and resistors. (So if you're thinking of modding it, it's pretty simple). Marshall Super Bass 100W amps were used by legends like:·       Malcolm Young of AC/DC,·       Lemmy Kilmister,·       Gary Moore,·       Hillel Slovak of the Red Hot Chile Peppers,·       Paul Kossoff of Free·       Jack Bruce of Cream,·       Chris Squire of Yes, and many more.Sure, you can show it off & make everyone jealous, but this thing also sounds incredible (and is earth-shakingly loud). This amp is in amazing condition. It even has the original Marshall logo and gold piping on the face (which are often lost on these rare, vintage amps). All the original transformers & capacitors are intact & untouched. When I originally bought this amp, it already had the master volume. In 1998, I took it to an experienced, professional amp tech, who replaced the power cord (which was cracking, due to age), and put in new tubes (12AX7 and EL34; the tech also did the biasing). Since then, it's been very lightly used, only at home, at bedroom-level volume, for maybe 1-2 hours per month (in other words, under 500 hours on the tubes). Experts know that the lifetime of tubes is about 10,000 hours (for details, search: hughes-and-kettner.com swap tubes), so you've got plenty of life left on the tubes. This thing is unbelievably loud, sounds killer, and will rock right out of the box.If you miss out on this one, you'll be left looking at the sad, beat-up scraps that get passed around from budget music shops. This amp's had a nice, comfy home for the past 31 years. I'd like to see it go to someone else who appreciates what an amazing find this is.(Note that shipping is a smidge higher, but only because I'll lovingly pack this amp up snug & secure so you get it in the exact same condition you see in the photos).
