Description

1988 Paul Reed Smith - very first production run. This is a true collectors piece. Action is nice, fret wire is in good condition with plenty of life left. Officially known as the “Classic Electric” when launched in June 1988 at the Summer NAMM show in Atlanta, Georgia, this model became the “CE” for the 1989 production year. This was because Hartley Peavey had objected to PRS’s use of the word “Classic” as he had an amp line called the Peavey Classic Electric at the time. This is why it only says “Electric” on the headstock face.Only about 250 guitars like this were made before becoming marketed as the CE24. She has a maple neck with a regular neck carve, unpainted headstock, rosewood fretboard and a one-piece alder body.######PLEASE NOTE######The original owner had the guitar re-fretted in the late 90's. The very first run of the 1988 Ce had a hand written serial number on the rear headstock --(unlike new models which have it engraved on the rear neck plate) The lutherier had to regloss the necks clear coat resulting in the serial being sanded off. The serial was written down but lost in the past 28 years. -All research shows that only the very first 1988 run had this very rare headstock logo-I have contacted Prs and provided pictures which they state the 1988 had this headstock, however without the serial number can't confirm for me. -I'm a huge prs fan and collector and have researched this fully. This is 100% a genuine 1988 Prs Ce first production run guitar. Comes with original prs slimline hard caseOriginal tremolo bar Guitar is in a remarkably great condition and plays and sounds like a vintage and well aged guitar should. Can provide as many photos as required to potential buyer. Welcome to inspect in person. To enquire please contact 0432052099
