This is a used Musafia Superleggero Dart violin case, bought directly from Musafia (Italy). It is in excellent condition. Musafia lists the weight as 5 pounds (I do not have an accurate scale to verify the weight). If you are looking at this item, you probably know that Musafia makes superb violin cases, and this one is no exception. Shar Music sells this case for $998 (actually, a very good price). If you are in the market for a superb case, you can save a good deal of money with this one. It's best to think of Musafia cases as an investment (the excellent Musafia website provides an example of one of their cases returning a 7% yearly return when resold later, and you can read about the virtues of a Musafia case on the site). You won't find a better case protection-wise. If you have a valuable instrument and you take it places, this is the kind of case you should have. I am selling this one because these days I mainly play a larger Norwegian instrument that is more along the lines of a viola and therefore too large for this case. I have taken great care of this violin case. The only signs of use I can see are two very small white spots, one on the back and one on the front (see the pictures). My guess is that these small spots could be removed since the case cover is teflon-treated (I didn't try). One is about the size of a pencil tip, and the other is smaller. There are no tears, dents, or signs of wear. Everything is in perfect working order. To be honest, I would consider this case to be in mint condition, but to avoid any possible issues with interpretation, I will just call it excellent. I am an amateur musician, not a professional, so this case hasn't traveled the world (thus, it hasn't been knocked about). It has spent far more time inside my home than outside of it. It hasn't left the house in over a year, and it is too wonderful a case to sit unused in my study. If you are like me and you use a shoulder rest, there is no dedicated spot for one in the case (I used a separate clip-on pouch for the rest). If you buy this case and you are dissatisfied with it for any reason, you can return it for a full refund within 7 days, though you will be responsible for the return shipping charges and you must return it in the same condition in which you received it. Thus, should you end up returning it, I'll have paid the shipping charges to send it to you, and you'll have paid the charges to return it to me. I'm confident this won't happen, but I make this offer to divide the "risk" between us. I have a long and perfect record on eBay, so you can rest secure if buying something from me. I'd like to see this case put to good use and to recoup some of my investment in it. I'll offer free ground shipping (FedEx or USPS) to any of the lower 48 United States. Please feel free to ask any questions. NOTE: I have dropped the price to $600 since there were many watchers, but no buyers at $660. This is a great case, and particularly at this price.
