The MKL-101 Tube Microphone from AEGThe return of the legend, the AEG MKL-101 was introduced in 2000 as the first faithful reproduction of the classic German tube microphone. Now we are reintroducing it with a limited edition run. What makes it different from other "new old" microphones? The preamp is an exact replica or a classic German circuit completely handmade. The preamp circuit is made right on the tube socket, with no printed circuit boards. The boards in the microphone are also made from the same vintage composite material as the originals. Vintage wire is used, and tied in it's path with string, just like the originals. If a sweatshop factory could spit these out they would, but it's attention to detail and professional hand assembly that makes the difference. All of the factory made U47 replicas we have seen, contain some shortcuts that make them differ from the original including printed circuit boards. The microphone use the short, black, EF11 preamp, the tube is a vintage NOS tube, which is an analog of the now super hard to find VF14.The capsule is a faithful reproduction of the U47 capsule. It is a three position switchable with a blending pot on the power supply. The power supply is an exclusive AEG design which is switchable from 110-120v to 230-240v depending on where in the world you are. It uses modern voltage regulation and a custom wound power transformer, as well as the convenience of modern XLR connectors. It is hand assembled and wired, and checked twice. By using machined body parts, where it's not crucial, and a handmade preamp, where it is, this microphone is an affordable way to get the vintage German sound. This listing includes the microphone, power supply, power cable and shock mount. This microphone's power supply is 220v OR 120v This microphone comes with a 14 day trial period, but we have never gotten a return yet.I have more great vintage microphone for sale, and microphone parts, so please check my other auctions.
