This is an Audio-Technica AT835ST mid-side stereo microphone (now called the BP4029 since a few years back) + cable. It has very minor surface scratches in the paint surface, but they are so small I can get them to show up clearly in the photos on my camera phone. The microphone is in perfect working condition, and comes with a 5-pin to left + right 3-pin XLR cable. The AT835ST / BP4029 is a mid-side format stereo microphone in a single housing i.e. inside the housing it's really a cardioid capsule mounted alongside a figure-of-8. It's a neat format and very usable (easier to mount than a separate M-S pair). It's fits nicely in the Rycote Softee, or can be mounted in a standard Rycote or Rode zeppelin- type windshield. It has a switch for recording in a) M-S format, or b) standard stereo format. A switch for narrow or wide stereo width (of course if you record in M-S you can also adjust the stereo width afterwards). And a low-frequency roll-off switch, at 80Hz (12dB/ octave).Link to technical details sheets from Audio-Technica (PDF): http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/resource_library/literature/26fa013550abae85/at835st_english.pdfSome info here from the Audio-Technica website (on the BP4029, the same mic with a different name):"Based on models originally developed for use in the broadcast of the Sydney Games in 2000, the BP4027 (14.96" long) and BP4029 (9.29" long) Stereo Shotgun models are engineered for high-end broadcast and production use. Both microphones feature independent line-cardioid and figure-of-eight elements configured in an MS (Mid-Side) arrangement with switch-selectable internal matrixing. These innovative microphones allow sound recordists the choice of selecting a left-right stereo output (wide or narrow) via the microphone’s internal matrixing system or choosing discrete Mid-Side signals for later manipulation, a flexibility not available from any other manufacturer.
A switchable low frequency roll-off filter helps minimize the pickup of unwanted low frequency noise. These phantom-powered models feature a rugged lightweight design and sleek black color scheme, perfect for on-camera use."
It's a great microphone, and well-cared for. I'm selling it as I've upgraded to a more expensive microphone system so it's no longer needed. It was my main stereo microphone until now. I love the M-S format for it's stereo imaging and it's flexibility (you can play with the stereo width after recording, and it's mono-compatible unlike XY and other stereo systems). I've done some great recordings in the field with this mic. I bought it for just under £1000 at the time, it's still the most affordable route into decent M-S recording.I can post or pick-up is possible. Please message with any questions.
