Frank Haselbacher Classical Guitar, labeled Augustine 1973 - #21. Spirit varnish finish, Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. German spruce top, Spanish cedar neck with ebony fingerboard. Hand signed underneath the top of the guitar. This is a very rare concert instrument made by Frank Haselbacher when contracted under the Augustine company to build concert level instruments. Frank was an extremely well respected luthier and was well known as the go to person for instrument repair by many of the worlds greatest concert players.
With some research more on the maker can be found and testaments of the rarity and quality of these hard to find guitars can be found. Sound examples of this guitar can be heard on the earliest recordings of Eliot Fisk - some say when his sound was the most refined. The instrument is built on the Hauser design. Extremely clear and separated sound with plenty of volume. A Spruce lovers dream guitar. Playability is perfect with plenty of saddle room if adjustment is desired. Currently the bass string is at 3.5mm with no buzzes, strung with Augustine Low Tension strings. You can hammer rest strokes all day long and not a bad note at this height.

A truly remarkable piece of history that acts as a perfectly functioning concert instrument for daily use or as a collector piece. I use the guitar daily for gigs and practice and is a workhorse. There is one thin repaired and stable crack on the top (see photo). This guitar was also recently tuned up by Luthier David LaPlant where the frets were leveled, crowned and polished and braces re glued due to age.
Scale length is 660mm with 54mm nut. Includes original hard shell case. Any questions welcome and encouraged. I will not accept returns on the guitar. This is a very light build 43 year old instrument and I do not encourage shipping it back and forth the country. Local pick up is extremely encouraged. I CANNOT ship outside the Continental U.S. No purchases will be granted with '0' Feedback users without prior communication and agreement.
