For sale is a beautiful antique Boehm style wood flute made by the William S. Haynes Company in 1909. As you might expect, this is a high quality instrument with a grenadilla wood body in great condition, solid silver keys and mechanism, and gold springs. A tiny hairline in the headjoint was repaired many years ago, and the headjoint has a beautifully crafted silver band to prevent any further cracks. Great wood and a beautiful embouchure that gives this flute a wonderfully sweet, woody voice. The sounding length is 609mm, typical for the first decade of the 20th century, so this flute does play below modern pitch at around a=435, but it sounds just fantastic. This would be perfect for solo work or as part of the duet with a guitar or other tuneable instrument. Comes in an original Haynes case from that period with the original tenon covers and wood grease pot. In addition, it comes with a fantastic period leather case cover in great shape with a working handle!!! Lovely period instrument with a lovely sound. Lots of fun to play!!!
