If you've been playing mandolin for any length of timeyou likely already know about this model. It has a lot of players playing it, all others admiring it, and it doesn't help that they are often difficult to find! This is a pre-owned Kentucky KM-1500 I was glad to have found! it is in excellent condition and has an added benefit for the new owner-  It has a highly desired, scooped finger board at the overhang! My story behind this mandolin is this: I had recently sold out of this model and I contacted my sales rep at Saga to get on the waiting list for another. Yes, they are so hard to come by, I knew I would certainly be waiting months. He told me about this Pre-owned mandolin he had. I thought that was a bit unusual, but I dropped the phone and drove over to Saga in South San Francisco to take a look. I had to see this one. Not only was it looking great, but fortunately for me, a banjo player, a Saga employee played it for me and I bought it on the spot. The deal was instantly sealed when I heard its incredible sound! It's very loud, and the low end of this mandolin really projects, it's amazing to hear. It really demonstrated to me, the marked difference between a good mandolin and a hand made instrument in the category of the KM-1500. But if you compare this mandolin to a really expensive brand, you'll be hard pressed to hear the difference, (if there is one) And likely harder pressed to shell out $2,000.00, $3,000.00, Five thousand or more! The bridge is already set up for low action and honed for exacting conformity with the top for maximum tone. The custom scooped fret board is a very nice touch, and was obviously expertly done. The case protects the instrument well, but is not looking new. it comes with this mandolin at no extra charge. For the discriminating customer I also have a brand new Deluxe Superior CS-1520 case. This is the exact case that is provided with every new KM-1500. It is unusually high quality case that is wrapped in a specially tailored, heavy canvas cover with heavy duty zippers, it has three strong latches,  a built-in lock on the center latch, a provision for small padlocks on the other two, and a protective shock absorbing material formed to fit this F-style mandolin perfectly. This case also maintains complete authenticity since it is the exact same type as the one it has now,  only new. You can find the CS-1520 case in our Ebay store or just contact me for more information if you'd like to add the new case, you have questions or wish to see more photos. I have made sure there are choices to you for you to make it how you want it.All professional features of the legendary mandolins from the 1920s are here. From the hand-laid sunburst finish in genuine hand-rubbed nitrocellulose lacquer to the all solid, hand selected, highly figured Michigan Maple back and sides. This valuable wood is hand formed and expertly crafted to the original standards. This, combined with the whitest, most finely grained genuine Adirondack Spruce solid top, carved by expert hands to exacting specifications for the maximum volume and clear, resonant tone this mandolin has. If you've seen a KM-1500 you already know the elegantly gold-plated and engraved tuning machines and tailpiece ("The Kentucky" is engraved into the tailpiece) are in perfect harmony with the elegance of the finish and workmanship. Perhaps the crowning touch on the KM-1500 is the traditional Fern inlay of abalone pearl, carefully inlaid in just below the white pearl Kentucky logo. This is of course, genuine inlay, not a cheaply done sticker or paint. Every detail is authentic. In a nutshell, this mandolin is in excellent condition with many years of music making in its future. With the added value of the brand new case and the scooped finger board, I feel this is a solid investment for a true, full- voiced, hand carved professional grade mandolin! It has perfectly good strings on it now, but as an added bonus I will include a brand new D’Addario EJ74 mandolin string set in the case for your future use as well as a new Eddy Finn small instrument stand. It can come in handy!
