Up for sale, a 1971 Guild Bluesbird in excellent condition and in perfect working order. 100% original and very well kept, this Bluesbird has a rich three-tone sunburst on the figured maple top, and the finish highlights both the grain and the figuring in this premium tone wood. The Bluesbird is designed to give you everything you love about a Les Paul, but with a body that boasts a full 14" lower bout and carefully engineered sound chambers to both relieve weight and improve tonal resonance. The result is a guitar that has a range of response that goes from meaty leads to jazzy archtop tonalities just by backing off the tone knobs.  From biting, harmonic rich bridge pickup tones to smooth and articulate power at the neck, the Bluesbird is versatile and expertly crafted in the USA at the famed Westerly, RI factory! The guitar weighs a mere 5lbs 10oz, and it's an ideal instrument for long gigs where you want optimal tone and versatility, without the weight of a Les Paul! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Guild has low, consistent action and excellent intonation. The 24 3/4" scale and 1 11/16" nut will feel comfortable and intuitive to any Gibson aficionado, and the one-piece mahogany neck has a medium C profile that borders on the more slender side of things while still feeling substantial. The original frets are virtually flawless and retain near their full, original height, having likely been leveled only once in the guitar's lifetime. The rosewood fretboard is also particularly clean and inlaid with pearl blocks. The headstock is topped off with original Guild stamped Schaller tuning machines and the Guild crown logo, also inlayed in pearloid. This guitar has just received a professional neck reset in-house here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar. The neck now meets the body at the ideal angle and the strings sit at the proper height to allow the pickups to sit nice and close.

All of the electronics work as they should, with strong and consistent output from both humbuckers. The bridge and tailpiece are in excellent shape, and the bridge mounting cups are factory pinned to the top to ensure ideal intonation. The carved and compensated rosewood saddle adds a certain warmth and detail to the tone without sacrificing clarity. The cosmetic appointments on the top are stately and simple, with a near spotless chrome harp tailpiece, original black pickup rings, and four stock DeArmond-made knobs with the Guild "G" on the silver cap inserts. While the guitar doesn't come with a pickguard, the top is so nice that it's arguably better without one. Ripples of curly flame figuring extend across the entire top, and the figuring is extremely consistent and three-dimensional with no bald spots. Cosmetically, this instrument is an absolute stunner and will surely please discerning collectors and serious players alike. The finish is vibrant and unfaded with a deep amber center to the burst transitioning to a deep brown with touches of burgundy at the edges of the body. The finish is completely original aside from some very minor lacquer touchup along the neck joint and heel cap necessitated by the reset, and the nitro lacquer sunburst is vibrant on both the flame maple top and back. Aside from a few extremely faint finish scratches in the clear coat only, this guitar is just about as clean as they come and as clean as the photos show it to be.
The original hardshell case is included. This case features a small pebble black exterior with the stock Guild label, working gold latches, and a blue plush interior.
