Up for sale is this fabulous 1964 Epiphone Casino. Made famous by the Beatles in the mid-1960s, the casino remains the most collectible of the Kalamazoo-made Epiphone line. This guitar also comes with its original blue-lined hardshell case (in excellent condition), which are particularly difficult to find for these guitars.Video demo here: https://youtu.be/Vms3rUV1EgoThis particular early example features the more desirable shorter Gibson-style headstock and wider 1 and 11/16th inch nut width. Gibson and Epiphone guitars later switch to the less desirable 1 and 9/16th width. There is some modest fret wear, but nothing that significantly affects the playabilityThe guitar features two early 1960s P-90 pick ups with nickel pole pieces. The bridge pickup his original to this guitar, while the neck pickup is an era-correct early 1960s replacement. In other words, both are vintage parts, but only one is original to this particular guitar. The vintage Gibson P-90 is perhaps the most underrated vintage pickup available. Capable of clear clean tones and tremendous roar when pushed, they are in many ways the perfect rock 'n' roll pick "ups. The only drawback to this particular guitar is that both pick up routes were slightly modified to accommodate humbuckers. A very narrow strip of wood on the bottom of the route was removed, just enough to squeeze in the larger sized Humbucker. There are also some small screw holes where the pick up rings were placed. This can fairly easily be rectified by a moderately skilled luthier, but I have left it as is for the next buyer. The neck pick up slot in the pick guard has also been enlarged a little bit. The black covers currently on the guitar are modern replacements, but the original nickel bridge pickup cover is included. The guitar also features an original nickel Tremotone tailpiece, although the mount for the bar has been broken off. Price is 5299.99 or best offer. Shipping is 59.99 to the domestic USA.
