RTO Teardrop guitar. I always wanted a Teardrop guitar. Problem is the originals are not that good and are expensive and any reproductions are of poor quality in my opinion. So I built my own. Starting from the top there is the replica Vox headstock, Hipshot locking tuners with RTO alignment/mount plate, Graphtech nut. Neck is a Fender scale with 24 frets, but neck shape and performance more in the category of an Ibanez Wizard neck. Straight, great playing neck. I wanted to retain as much as the original Vox as I could so I opted for a bolt-on neck. Super tight neck pocket, high grade stainless steel screws, with a 1/8th inch thick stainless steel recessed custom neck plate. Body is chambered mahogany with a beautiful white pearl basecoat with polyurethane clear. Extremely durable and beautiful finish. Staying close to Vox but deviating on the body with a very smooth teardrop edge. Vox, I'm sure for ease of production, has a flat portion on the side. My RTO stays true to teardrop form. I am a "Tremolo Junkie" so after dealing with every design and brand on the market, I designed my own back in 2007 ~ 2008. Tremolo is manufactured by myself and was awarded a U.S. Patent in 2010. There is no better tremolo or any equal. It is the best. Push-in Pull-out adjustable length lever. Fantastic tune stability, range, and sustain. Best lever feel in the industry. No play or loose feel. Solid from lever to strings. You really have to play one to appreciate the feel. YouTube videos, many, under my channel name of: tommytu3Pickups, again I wanted to stay true to Vox form but not sacrifice performance. Wound up using GFS's best matched pair of Firebird mini buckers. Two volumes one tone all low friction pots. Sprague orange drop cap with Switchcraft 3-way switch. flush output jack. RTO fabricated control knobs and 3-way switch mounting plate. Again, staying close to Vox. Planet wave elliptical strap buttons.This guitar is a player. Very enjoyable to play. Has excellent tone on clean and distortion. With a thick chambered mahogany body and tremolo fabricated from brass, the guitar weighs in at an even 10 pounds. So, a standard Les Paul in weight. This guitar is offered for sale only because I am getting married this summer and need to "Thin the herd." If you purchase this guitar you will get a great player a stunning looker and I do not think you will find a better Teardrop shaped guitar for sale anywhere. I do plan on building at least two more at a later date.I back my guitar builds and tremolos 100%.
