Not your Grandpa's dulcimer! Here's another terrific instrument that sets an entirely new standard for the sound of this traditional Appalachian instrument. Ready to take your playing to the next level? This dulcimer will open up a realm of possibilities, regardless of your style. Fabulous woods, close attention to detail, and enough volume to even be heard in a jam session. Combined with a gloss finish like a high end guitar, you simply will not find a better dulcimer, anywhere. Lifetime warranty. The top is butternut, a first cousin of walnut, only softer. When I first started building, all the old timers urged me to use the butternut/walnut combination for tone. They were right -- it works great. Butternut has been attacked by a blight, and might not be available much longer. Lovely book matched grain.
The body is North Carolina walnut, all pieces book matched. This wood was harvested from the side of Saluda Mountain, and air dried for over a decade. Good stuff.Walnut scroll headstock and tail designed to accept ball end strings.Ebony fingerboard with pearl position markers;Grover open gear mini-tuners with ebony buttons. These NEVER go out of tune. That's why I use them.28 3/16" concert scale length.A deluxe carrying bag with backpack straps included. I am an independent builder located in Western North Carolina. My dulcimers are not available from any retail outlet, only directly from my shop in historic Rutherfordton. As one of my customers recently said, "this dulcimer will take you where you want to go." Find out why.
