1920's Thornward Guitar
Estimated price for orientation: 0 $
Category: Acoustic Guitars
Class:
Description Exact Year: 1920
This is a c.1920 Thornward flat top parlor guitar. Most likely built by Lyon and Healy and possibly ordered from the Sears and Roebuck catalog. Everything on the guitar is original with the exception of the tuners. The original tuners are included in the sale. The tuners on the guitar now are really wonderful replicas. The guitar is strung with silk and steels and really isn't built to handle fully steel strings, as there's no truss rod. Original black chipboard case included. A beautiful antique, and a wonderful player, particularly in first position. The headstock is engraved with "W.M.E. Porath." Probably the name of the original owner. Thanks, good luck!
