Ludwig Black Diamond Pearl1964 Jazz Festival SnareBADGE #55831____________________The only thing I did to this original snare is detail it {see below}. There are no modifications of any kind - no removal of grommet/fake repro badge, no re-wrapping, no repainting of the interior, no bearing edges recut. I NEVER perform modifications on vintage drums. EVER! What I do is detail certain pieces that are already of high quality. _______________The wrap has ZERO fade/darkening as can be seen from the photos. Bearing edges are clean & the drum is in the round. THE WRAP FOLLOWS THE SEAM INTO THE SCARF JOINT.All hardware has been removed, cleaned & polished with Cape Cod Clothes & Simichrome polish. Hardware shows light wear; hoops have a few nicks & some tarnishing (mainly on the inner portion of batter-side hoop as shown).I polished the wrap with NOVUS 1 & 2 and it is extremely smooth, as close to new as you will find; this polishing does in fact improve the appearance even when a a snare is in otherwise very fine condition. A few light nicks/wear remained after polishing. Both batter & reso heads are 60's heads. Snare wires are new Puresound.MOST IMPORTANTLY: THE SNARE SOUNDS PHENOMENAL!!! AND NOT ALL VINTAGE LUDWIG DRUMS DO. GRADING VINTAGE DRUMS TAKES A BIT OF COURAGE AS IT IS A SUBJECTIVE AT BEST. THIS BDP SNARE IS WELL OVER A 9 (ON A 1-10 SCALE) & A LITTLE BELOW A 10. A TEN WOULD BE FACTORY NEW WITH ZERO DEFECTS.AS STATED BEFORE ... THERE ARE FEW NICKS OR SCRATCHES IN THE WRAP. BUT - A BIG BUT: THIS IS A 49 YEAR OLD SNARE IN UNCOMMON CONDITION, DETAILED TO GET IT AS CLOSE TO FACTORY AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT DOING ANY MODIFICATIONS TO IT.PRICE REFLECTS ALL OF THE ABOVE._______________
I AM ONE OF THE FEW ON EBAY WHO IS NOT A GAR(B)AGE SALE. AS A BUYER MYSELF I'VE LEARNED THAT YOU CAN SOMETIMES FIND A GOOD DEAL ON EBAY AT A DECENT PRICE. HOWEVER, 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 A SELLER'S DESCRIPTION / PHOTOS DO NOT MATCH THE ITEM WHEN I OPEN THE PACKAGE. YOU DO NOT WANT ME AS A BUYER IF THIS IS THE CASE; BUT YOU DO WANT ME AS A SELLER BECAUSE MY STANDARDS ARE VERY HIGH. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT TAKE A LOOK AT MY FEEDBACK FOR SALES.RAREHOBBS HAS 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACKKNOW WHAT THE EBAY BADGES BY A SELLER'S NAME MEAN (I CANNOT STATE THEM PER EBAY RULES EVEN THOUGH I'VE EARNED THEM). BUT I CAN SAY THAT I AM TOP-EVERYTHING AS A SELLER. ______
