Originally developed as measurement microphones due to their extreme flat frequency response, Earthworks mics are incredibly popular for orchestral recordings due to their uncolored sound. I found these mics amazing used as drum overheads in a 3 mic setup which gave me an incredibly big sound; they're just at home recording piano as well as string and brass instruments.
