You're looking at a wonderful example of a 1964 Fender Custom Shop Relic Jazz Bass built in 2008.    It is in Dakota Red, a color of which they only produced a small handful, making this extremely rare.   Much of the relic-ing is the result of use in probably nearly a thousand gigs since then.  The color has a slight burgundy tint to it due to UV exposure and it is nicely, naturally checked as well.  Interestingly, the color shows quite differently when photographed under different light - sometimes maroon, sometimes with a 'salmon' tint similar to Fender's popular 'Fiesta Red' and sometimes just straight up red.It is set up exceptionally well, and in excellent condition mechanically and electronically.  Truss rod and tuners all operate smoothly. The sound is EXACTLY what you expect from a well-made Jazz Bass - Articulate, detailed, and extremely punchy.  NEVER gets lost in the mix.  With a slight bias towards the rear pickup, it has an upper mid articulation that cuts beautifully and musically while giving up nothing in the fundamental low frequencies.  In short, the tone is GLORIOUS.The best part about owning and playing a relic is it totally mitigates the heartbreak of that first chip in a flawless finish.  And if you've ever had an original vintage example, it's like taking a road trip with an old friend.  And if you still have a priceless original, you know how nervous you can get taking it out to a gig.  This, not so much. The case has a few scuffs, but no tears.  It includes all of the requisite case candy (strap, tags, certificate, etc..).So why am I selling you ask?  Life sometimes gets in the way of the things we enjoy most.  But enough about my problems.  Make my problems your next joy in life.    I'll get by.These had a list price of around $3700-ish.  This is being offered without reserve, so get your bid in for a great deal on a fine example of a proper Jazz Bass.Feel free to contact me with any questions, or if you're local, to arrange a test drive. As usual, bidders with justifiably negative feedback will have their bids deleted and Nigerian scammers will be publicly shamed.
