Conn Connstellation 48HLW Professional Jazz Trombone8 Inch Nickle Plated Bell.500 standard Jazz Trombone boreSerial Number C 205XX-  1963Clean and Straight - Dents have been removedGood Slide actionConn's Top Of The Line Jazz TromboneI will confess to a very strong bias in favor of Conn Trombones. I was raised on an 88H after using a Director student trombone. When I found myself in a position to buy a jazz trombone it was the 48H that I bought. I have owned and continue to own other Conn trombones and the custom trombones that I have played for the last 20 years were strongly influenced by ConnI have a 1961 48H Connstellation and am always amazed how much bigger it plays than a .500 bore trombone should expect. It very much plays similar to a .508 or a .525 bore trombone from King or Bach. I can only believe that the combination of the nickle plating on the bell gives it some additional brilliance and the rose outer slide tubes tames and warms the sound. Obviously bell taper is also part of the picture. Ultimately you get a trombone that can pop the pedals, warm a ballad and soar into the highest of registers.  I am not quite certain what the LW means on the model number - I can only assume that it means the horn is lighter weight than some of the other trombones Conn made. Mine has the LW designation as well. This one arrived in very nice condition- just a couple small dents on the tuning slide that I had professionally removed. There is a bit of finish wear on the hand and neck contact points and some light scratches here and there but overall it is in very nice shape as the pictures show- The bell is gorgeous! The early 60's have the reputation of the very best time in the Elkhart plant.Conn trombones from this era suffered "Connitis" or plating loss on the inner slide tube stockings on a regular basis and this one does have a bit of wear on one inner slide tube. Fortunately the slide action is still very good with almost none of the rough feeling that most trombones with this wear get. I would rate the slide 9-9.5 on a scale of 10. I am very fussy about slides but please understand this is personal opinion. I use Pure Lube for my slides - Slide O Mix or Rapid Comfort should also give you great slide action. The 48H that I have also has this wear and it also is a very good quiet slide. Comes with the original case in very good condition. The Connstellation case is unique and I feel like the case and the horn should stay together. Has the original Conn 3 mouthpiece. I tend to favor a slightly larger mouthpiece on my Connstellation. This trombone is a beauty  to behold and beautiful to play and to listen to. It is a truly great vintage jazz trombone looking for a home where it will be appreciated like I appreciate the 48H I have had for 20 plus years.
I will ship well packed to the lower 48 states for $55 and elsewhere for actual cost by US Postal Service.
