1953 Gibson ES175-D electric guitar – Customized - Modified About the guitar, I was informed by the previous owner that the guitar is an original Gibson but some of the components were not original and had been replaced at some time. I am not sure if the paint is original and custom ordered by Eddie DeSantis but it is an excellent paint job and there does not appear to be any paint spray inside the f-holes (it could be a factory refinish or original finish). I removed the pickups and both have a patent number stamped on the back and the date Jan 25th 1970 (see photo). There is a 10" crack on one side of the guitar that goes all the way through and some stress lines around the bottom and sides but they don't go all the way through that I can tell (see pictures). I believe the original input jack location has been patched as the input is now in the end pin. The front, back, neck and fretboard are all in very good condition. There is some staining around the tuning pegs. All the electronics seem to function fine except one tone knob seems to produce tone but does not change the tone when I move it from zero to ten. The FON is Y6383 21. The serial number on the white inside label is A16170. The hard shell protective case is in used condition and probably not original. It is a quite impressive, beautiful and cool guitar in my opinion and that is why I bought it.  I am not a guitar player and have no history of repairs or replaced components so please refer to the pictures and use your good judgment.  I am selling as a PROJECT guitar because it should probably have the crack(s) repaired.  This vintage guitar came from an old estate and was damaged in shipment. It appears to be a guitar owned by Eddie DeSantis (1925-2003) who was a longtime musician and entertainer. His TV appearances include Art Linkletter, the Arthur Godfrey Show, Tennessee Ernie Ford and Peter Potter and he had bit parts in some movies. He was a childhood prodigy who started his musical training at the age of ten and then found his talents warranted professional exposure at the age of twelve. He started his career as the lead guitarist for the Frankie Carle Band. At the age of sixteen he left a radio program called "The Little Red School House" to join Tommy Tucker's band. He played in several other prominent bands prior to joining Dick and Tommy in "The Marksmen". He was a longtime Las Vegas musician and entertainer and performed at the Tropicana, the Hilton, the Union Plaza, the MGM and many others. He played for over 50 years and had many musical accomplishments.  No Reserve - Make Offer - Trades are consideredIf you need additional photos or details please contact me.
